Dr Anthony B. Del Rio is an archaeologist, anthropologist and geospatial research scientist whose work examines settlement, mobility, warfare, political economy and human–landscape relationships. His research develops reproducible GIS and confidence-weighted methods for integrating archaeological, historical, onomastic and environmental evidence at landscape scale, with particular emphasis on Viking-Age Britain, Ireland and Scandinavia. His doctoral research at Oxford investigated Scandinavian settlement and connectivity in Viking Northumbria. His wider field experience includes glacial archaeology in Norway and excavation in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia.
