BA Archaeology and Anthropology Open Days
We can't wait to meet you and welcome you to our School! Click here to open the main University guide website which will give you lots of information to help you get the best out of your Open Day here in Oxford. The information below is specific to our undergraduate degree.
What happens at the School on each in-person open day?
Location: School of Archaeology, 1 South Parks Road, OX1 3TG
When: 09:30-15:00pm
The Open Days are very busy, fun and exciting events.
The key times to be at our School are 11am and 2pm. The rest of the day is yours but we've included some recommendations for you below:
From 09:30am to 14:00pm our staff and students will be serving coffee and biscuits in our common room at 1 South Parks Road. Sit down for a chat about our courses, read our brochures and don't forget to ask them for their top tips for applying to Oxford.
11:00-11:30: Taster lecture
We challenge one of our course tutors to give you a half hour lecture on their research. We've had talks on the anthropology of love, what we can learn about you by testing isotopic values in your teeth, exploring the symbolism in African rock art, how do languages develop, and many more fascinating talks.
14:00-15:00: Talk - Archaeology and Anthropology at Oxford
One of our course tutors will share with you all the information you need about our degree and how to make a successful application. Come prepared with your questions as they want to hear from you.
In between these talks you will want to visit our colleges - St John's and Keble are just a 5 min walk from our School on Parks Road. Hertford, Regent's Park and St Peter's are both in the centre of town and St Hugh's is a 10-15 minute walk up Banbury Road. Harris Manchester (for mature students) is just around the corner from our School building.
If you have time, try to visit our local museums which play a significant role in our teaching - including the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Ashmolean Museum.
